So much for making New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of the year…

Today was a new day and every Saturday I will post a photo of how far I have stitched.

I start with my latest project Amish Quilting Sampler. This time it is for me, us. We have since the last post become house owners and I am stitching this for our house - ár n-baile.

I realise that I have not posted in ages... and I am sorry for that. The last project on here was Snowy Days and I only had one corner left and there was something, you know the feeling and after counting and re-counting I had missed one in the scarf! I was so disappointed Snowy Days is now in the WIP pile or if can be counted as a WIP as I have to start all over again.

I have however not stopped stitching, something small until the other finished projects have been ironed.

Restarted stitching this on Tuesday 18th of January and technically it is not a new project as the parts of the blue scarf was stitched while flying home from Newcastle last year (now, I do wonder if I knew that my New Year's resolution was not to start any new projects?). I do think that after this one is finished I will have to stitch one which is on my wip list on here...

I am taking a little break from stitching… and will do a bit of knitting.

We have just moved to a larger apartment and the walls are bare so I have decided to knit a quilt to hang on one of the walls. Inspired by my mother who does quilting and who is currently having an exhibition of her work in Stockholm until the 29 of October.

This is the first ‘square’ for the quilt. I have not decided yet if there is to be 12 or 16 ‘squares’. I guess this depends on how far my wool will stretch. I am very happy that I have found the project for this wool (bought just over two years ago in Aberystwyth, Wales just because I love it) and that it will finally come to be used.

Alternatively, I have to stitch more Bang on the Door, Country Companions, Forever Friends, Humphrey's Corner or Sombunny projects. Hmm... well worth some thinking while stitching I think.

I have to snail mail Derwentwater to ask for more thread... Sometime has to be a first and this is my first. I have run out of thread and cannot stitch anymore. I tried to match it to DMC but the difference when stitched was too noticeable so, unfortunately, this one gets UFO status until a reply from Derwentwater finds its way back to me.

Thursday 17 June will be the 'last' really full day in work after that I will have evenings and weekends back. It is almost so that I am starting a countdown (11 days to go). I am looking forward to having lots of stitching time again and day-dreaming about what to stitch...

I think I have worked out how to post with the new blog editor - it kept turning the photos for me but this time I got it right. Well, I didn't get as much stitched over the weekend as I had hoped (did some knitting too) but still have made good progress. Another few evenings and/or a weekend should finish this one...

Have been stitching over the weekend - and unpicked too :(

I made the same mistake twice with the dusky pink (in September) and have to unpick it twice. So I decided to stitch 'backwards' and it worked out well... third time 'lucky'!

There is some left of September to stitch and I have to finish the backstitch on October and November. I hope to have them all stitched by the end of next weekend.

The first time I have ever tried to stitch blackwork and it turned out very well (if I may say so myself). It took me one day (8 hours) to stitch this and I think it is something I will stitch again :D

I know it is a little early to start thinking about New Year's resolutions... but this will be my one and only New Year's resolution for 2010: I will only stitch projects for ME ;-)
I have so many projects waiting to be stitched. What triggered this resolution was a lovely email I received yesterday (you know who you are and thank you again) and I just have to find time to stitch this for me... that should also reduce the items on the Next To-Stitch-List

One Rainy Night - Manga X Stitch

Last summer (2008) I stitched One Rainy Night for Helen's book Manga Cross Stitch.

Now, I have to say that it is not something I probably would have chosen to stitch for myself but having browsed the finished book there are quite a few of the projects that have been added to my to-stitch-pile (the unofficial one that is...). I quite like the lettering and will stitch something to have in my office at work.

Humphrey's Corner - Christmas Eve this one is for me and is almost finished (only the least favourite stitch left, namely backstitch, left and the it is finished) new goal is to have it ready for Christmas 2009.
A Year of Flowers October and November only have backstitch left and December is stitched - only 9 flowers left!

Last night when I was watching The Village on the silly box I stitched the last gold thread stitches on Moonlight Serenade. A little sad having finished it - when I love stitching a project I sometimes find it hard to stitch the last stitch. I have thoroughly enjoyed stitching this project. Have been away in the summer house for a couple of days. It was lovely sitting on the veranda stitching and I have made some progress on A Year of Flowers. I thought I had lost the magazine so the backstitch of October and November has not been stitched (yet) however the magazine was found when leaving so I have no longer any excuse for not stitching it before continuing with September...

Well, it is the holidays after all and I have been stitching a bit...

I have finished E's Cosy Corner and he has put it up on the wall.

I have only gold thread left to stitch on Moonlight Serenade (cannot post photo here as it is a birthday gift - after the birthday a photo of the final project will be posted). I think that I can safely say that stitching with metallic thread is a exciting as doing backstitching. Have to finish Moonlight Serenade this week though...
I have stitched December in A Year of Flowers and I am quite excited with how that worked out - did not expect the blend of colour in the berries after seeing the threads on their own! One flower down - 11 to stitch.

I stitched this during the summer of 2006. When it was finished I put it aside and thought that I had put it in such a safe place I would never find it, but I did when moving last year. Now it is hanging on our living room wall.
